07 Jun Sermon Recap | Ephesians | Stand Firm
We are at war with the spiritual powers in the unseen world, and we have to tap into something much greater in order to avoid the destruction of sin. This spiritual battle is one we can’t defeat on our own. We have to protect ourselves with truth, righteousness, peace, faith, salvation, and the Word of God. Without engaging with these things, we become vulnerable to temptation.

-Have you spent time sitting before God wrestling with the real issue as it relates to the battle you are in? What role do you play in contributing to the issue?
-Has God revealed something to you or tried to communicate something to you that you keep kicking to the side? What steps can you take to begin being obedient to what God is calling you to do?
Thoughts to Consider
-We are people of truth battling against lies and confusion that come from inside of us and from our culture. We have to work to seek the truth—without truth we don’t have anything to anchor into.
-The spiritual battle is a life of soul searching and a lifestyle of repentance. It is constantly working through the process of self-examination.
-We can have courage to bring truth to light with the security, freedom, and confidence that comes from knowing that God is with us and nothing can separate us from Him.
-Scripture is meant to cut into us—showing us what we need to know, what’s wrong with the way we are living and thinking, and what direction we should go in.
-We should be specific and persistent with our prayers—praying for the spiritual, not just the physical. If you aren’t sure what to pray, sit quietly and ask for insight from the Lord.
“When we aren’t stabilized by God’s peace, we are vulnerable to temptation.”
“Let the Scriptures evaluate us instead of us always evaluating the Scripture.”
“Quoting the Bible doesn’t make it powerful. Obeying the Bible you quote does.”
“A righteous life is a protection against a life of sin.”
“We are at war, and the battle we are in is spiritual, not physical.”
