16 Feb Recap | Ephesians | Ephesians 1:1-8
One of the great questions of the Bible is how God will bring all things back under His authority and direction without destroying everyone and everything. In the book of Ephesians, Paul will bring some light to this great question in the writing of his letter to faithful followers of Christ Jesus.
Paul’s letter starts off by making the point that God is the Father of Jesus Christ and that it is through Christ we are blessed by God. Paul then describes the profound blessing from God that He chose us before the world was ever created. God adopted us as His own children and redeemed us through the precious, priceless blood of Christ. God does this not for our glory but for His own; nothing man can do can ever outdo what God has already done for His creation.

Spiritual Blessings
1. Even before God made the world, He loved us and chose us with the ultimate purpose to make us holy. He chose us before we ever had a chance to choose.
2. God decided in advance to adopt us. The great comfort is that the stability of your relationship with Him does not depend on you. It was His choice, His character, and His power.
3. He purchased and redeemed us. He bought us out of slavery with the precious blood of Jesus Christ.
4. He has showered kindness on us along with all wisdom and understanding.
Non-Believers
-There’s a divide between you and your Creator now because of your sin. You have to put your faith and trust in Jesus who died on a cross to pay for that sin and realize it’s not your performance that makes you right before God.
Believers
1. Need to repent of holding God accountable for our happiness and comfort and feeling entitled to His performing for us based on our own performance. Not living in a way that if He loved you, He would do something for you.
2. Need to repent of not erupting in praise. You should see Him as the One who has rescued you, adopted you, chose you, loves you, and who has done so much for you.
3. Need to repent of the idea of being dismissive of Him, living in a way that says my time is more precious, and I don’t have time to learn about who You are.
“Even before God made the world, He loved us and chose us.”
“Even before you had a chance to perform, He loved you.”
“God is sovereign, yet we have responsibility to our life and our sin.”
“The nature of our adoption is bound up in God’s character, power, and choice.”
“Our redemption is part of a much bigger plan to restore all things back underneath Him.”
