Nurturing: Two Friends Walking Together

Picture nurturing as two friends walking side-by-side.

Walking together, we have the opportunity to get to know another.  Sometimes we have to slow down to stay together; sometimes we have to pick up the pace to keep up with another.  When one slips, the other helps her up.  Nurturing is strengthening by encouragement and reminders of truth.  If someone is broken and weak, it takes wisdom and discernment to nurture that person.  When Job’s friends sat on the ground beside him for seven days and nights, no one said a word to him because they saw how great his suffering was.  Proverbs 9:8 says, “Do not rebuke mockers or they will hate you; rebuke the wise and they will love you.”  You need to know when to call someone out in love in order to strengthen and move them.  The enemy hates truth and growth.  But God never wants others who are blind to their weaknesses to stay there.  It is love for them that causes us to speak into their lives.

A woman who nurtures well can be used by God to impact and change another person’s life.

Are you allowing God to use your life to impact others as you nurture them?  Where do you need to boldly speak into another’s life?
