HOG Day | Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What is HOG Day?

A: Hands on Greenville Day is a community service event hosted by United Way each year. It’s an opportunity for us to love our neighbors with no strings attached.

Q: When is it?

A: Saturday morning, May 6, 2017

Q:  Why do we do HOG Day?

A: On HOG Day, we come together across all our campuses as a tangible demonstration of our church’s commitment to our city.

Q: How do we sign-up?

A: You can sign up online here. We are asking individuals to sign up independently. Feel free to browse the projects and coordinate with others to be able to serve together.

Q: Can our whole community group serve together?

A:   Whether you choose to serve as a ministry group, a community, a neighborhood, or just as friends, serving as a group is a great option. Each person in your group will need to sign up individually on our website. As you’re coordinating with others to sign up,  you can copy and paste the url for the specific site you’d like your group to serve at, and send it out with sign-up information. It’s important for you to know that we cannot guarantee spots for your group members this year

Q: Is HOG Day family-friendly?

A: Yes! We love for families to serve together. Just be sure to check the project profile for any age requirements that may be listed.

Q: Can I still go to or be a part of a project even if the open volunteer spots have been filled?

A: We have set a volunteer limit at each project. This volunteer limit is based on the request of the organization and on the amount of work that needs to be completed at the project. Organizations can easily become overwhelmed with too many volunteers. An overfilled project also creates less work for each person, which keeps volunteers being able to contribute to the project in a meaningful way. If a project is listed as full on the website, please choose another project that still needs your help.
