New Grace Worship Song | Set My Hope

To help us worship through and memorize the truths of Romans Chapter 8 as part of our current series, “A Theology of Death,” the Grace Church worship team has written a song called “Set My Hope.”

“Yet what we suffer now is nothing compared to the glory he will reveal to us later. For all creation is waiting eagerly for that future day when God will reveal who his children really are. Against its will, all creation was subjected to God’s curse. But with eager hope, the creation looks forward to the day when it will join God’s children in glorious freedom from death and decay.” Romans 8: 18-21
______________

“Set My Hope”

All creation groans
To be freed of corruption
Longing for the day
You bring restoration

Pre-Chorus
I know you will hear when I call on you Lord
My weakness compels me to say

Chorus
Raise me up in your Spirit
Give me life as I die to my sin
I’ll fix my eyes on a glorious Savior
And set my hope therein

Casting off all fear
Suffering and worry
They will not compare
With standing in Your glory

Though suffering comes it will all have an end
But Jesus Your kingdom remains!

Oh what thing should we fear when You’ve given Your Son
And Your love can’t be taken away
Not in life or death is it ever withheld
Praise to Jesus who conquered the grave!

________________

Though we yearn to be freed from the curse brought on by sin, we can have hope, because Jesus conquered sin and death on the cross. As we move through the remainder of this series, we hope the words of this song will help you internalize the message of Romans 8 and help you to better understand the purpose of death, prepare ourselves for our death and the deaths of those near to us and have our minds renewed with biblical, hope-filled perspective.

Visit our worship page for more information about the song and to download. Be sure to check out the blog next week for part 1 of the more in-depth story behind the song.
